Alicia was found as a stray in September on the streets of south TX, limping with a broken leg.  She was taken to the local shelter, and SSR stepped in to help her.  After a few weeks at at TX vet, she arrived in Virginia, where she continues to receive treatment and recover.

Alicia is a sweet and very affectionate little lady.  Her favorite things are eating, being with her people, and playing with her foster's resident German Shepherd, who she looks to for guidance.  She also loves her foster's cats and follows them everywhere and tries to play with them.

Alicia still has a lot of puppy energy and behavior.  She's always up for play and petting and belly rubs. She's also a little mouthy and will chew shoes, rugs, and other enticing things if left unsupervised. Alicia is skittish, and tries to escape when she is frightened by loud noises or sudden movements.  She has separation anxiety, but relaxes as long she has another dog for company.  Alicia will require a home with at least one other resident dog who will play with her and help her feel secure.

Alicia had surgery to repair her leg in early November. Recovery will take 8-12 weeks. She will not be able to navigate steps, jump onto or off of anything, or engage in vigorous exercise until she is fully healed.  After that, she is expected to regain full use of her leg, but may always have a slight limp.

Alicia is an incredibly happy, energetic young pup.  She can't wait to find her forever family and shower them with love and affection!
