Connor exemplifies everything we learned from The Little Engine That Could. This sweet older gentleman never lets anything get him down and each time we think he has come as far as possible; he blows right by our expectations. The best part? He does it all with a smile on his face and lots of doggie love for his fosters. Connor is a 9-year-old shepherd mix with a back injury. The vet thinks sometime in the recent past he may have fallen and slipped disk. (This is our best guess since he was rescued with this injury already present) In the beginning we were not sure what his mobility would be, and he did have some trouble walking. However, as his injuries heal and with the help of his amazing fosters, he has continued to make huge strides. Not only is he walking, but he is building up to several walks a day, moving from room to room with his fosters and even enjoying getting in the car for some around town errands! Connor will never really be a Couch to 5K champion, but he is certainly up for room wandering, puttering in the yard, and a leisurely stroll around the block. He has not yet been cat tested but has done well with older kids and most dogs. Connor spends his days hanging out in his foster’s work office in his crate or greeting anyone who comes in the room. This guy is a huge love bug and makes sure that all the people get a warm doggy greeting! His favorite things are being with his people, and comfy bed for a nap, and scratches under his chin. He currently knows the commands for Wait and OK and is crate trained. His foster is continuing to work with him basic obedience. Are you looking for a snuggly, sweet guy to spend your days with? If so, Connor is the ONE! Connor would do best in a home with carpet for traction and few stairs. He will continue to inspire you just as he has inspired us. Connor is just waiting to make someone smile! He is being fostered in Springfield VA. Nuts and Bolts: 9 year old male, 60lbs, soon-to-be neutered, good with older kids and most dogs, not been cat tested, has back injury but continues to improve, needs carpet and few stairs More about Connor 1669Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Does Good in the Car, Does not require a yard, Leashtrained, Cratetrained, Likes to play with toys, Likes to be in your lap, Obedient, Playful, Affectionate, Eager To Please, Intelligent, Even-tempered, Gentle If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know.
