Esmer joined SSR in March 2021 and has gone her entire time in SSR without any interest from adopters. Please give her a chance. Esmer is a very sweet girl! She is very good by herself in her crate and doesn't potty in the house. She will lay on her back for belly rubs. She loves treats, and she's very smart! 

Esmer was rescued from a partner rescue in Texas after being found as a stray with her puppy, Bojangles.

She is literally brilliant and amazing, and some lucky person is going to find a friend of a lifetime in her!!

She and has come a very long way. 

She is food motivated and once she has connected with you is extremely eager to please and now has become redirectable away from things that causes her to become over stimulated. She will require a savvy experienced dog person.

Esmer’s ideal home would be as an only dog, but this is not required. She is extremely clever and eager to please once she understands expectations and trusts you. No cats, no children or older kids/adult kids older. She has lived in a multidog home during fostering and is no longer reactive to their presence and is now able to settle in kennel (she needs kennel time to decompress) but has not graduated to hanging or playing with them yet. She loves playing with toys and is now learning to give the toy but is still building understanding around that.
