theo needs your help!

11/27/2024 UPDATE BELOW

Meet Theo, the sweetest, happiest one-year-old pup with a heart full of love and a story full of courage. After surviving Parvo as a puppy, Theo is now facing a new and serious health challenge that requires urgent surgery. 💔

Recent tests revealed that Theo’s left kidney is no longer functional and must be removed to prevent life-threatening infections. Complicating matters, his right ureter also has an abnormal (ectopic) placement, which requires precision surgery to ensure Theo’s urinary system works properly and painlessly. This surgery is complex and costly but crucial for Theo’s chance at a long, healthy life.

What the Surgery Will Do:

  • Remove the non-functional left kidney and its associated ureter.

  • Correct the placement of the right ureter to ensure proper function.

  • Prevent future risks of infection, leakage, or discomfort.

Theo’s surgery will involve a detailed plan, including advanced imaging and delicate adjustments to his remaining ureter to restore his health. It’s a challenging procedure, but one that can give Theo the future he deserves.

UPDATE 11/27/2024:
THEO MADE IT THROUGH SURGERY!

This sweet boy has a tough road ahead of him for the next few weeks. We are grateful for his foster parents taking great care of him through recovery.

We are still very short funds to cover the surgery. The ER costs over the past weekend totaled $4,000.00 in addition to the surgery. We really need your help!

Theo will most likely stay in the hospital's care today and may go home tomorrow. We will update you once he is home.

Thanks to our amazing network of supporters, we were able to locate a practice that was willing to perform Theo's surgery for several thousand less than the original $11,000 quote.  🎉

bELOW IS A SUMMARY FROM THE SURGEON:

  1. Bad Kidney was totally removed, the kidney contained 2 liters of fluid. Theo's remaining kidney seems to be functioning completely normal.

  2. Feeding tube was inserted to provide him proper nutrition since he hadn’t eaten in a few days.

  3. Ureter issue was explored and believes it has been corrected. Neither of the two paths was viable once she actually was able to explore so she created the opening herself and repaired.

  4. During surgery, Theo received a round of plasma.
