Winona 2934
Winona AKA "Winnie" is a 6-year-old spayed female GSD. She is a rescue from Texas that SSR saved from a high kill shelter at the 11th hour before she was euthanized. She is UTD on her vaccinations. Winnie is HW+ and began treatment on 1/9. To continue to treat the HW, she will need a monthly topical treatment of Multi Advantage for the next 12 months, which the rescue will provide.
Winnie is a light, agile and athletic dog with medium energy. She is housebroken, knows basic obedience and is crate trained. She is quiet when in her crate. Winnie loves playing ball but is respectful and drops the ball when asked. She is more ball driven than food motivated for training.
Winnie could be a "once in a lifetime" type of dog in the right home. She has a high desire to please, is extremely smart, trainable and is desperately looking to bond with her forever person. She is feeling lost without her "person".
Winnie has the natural protection instinct of a GSD. She prefers women and can be reactive around new men so would need slow introductions. In these instances, she has demonstrated good impulse control when corrected appropriately.
Winnie is not suitable for a home with small dogs or cats due to her prey drive.
Winnie is currently in a temporary foster home in Freeland, Maryland. If she is placed in Maryland or Pennsylvania, I am happy to consult and help with her.
